RUBBER BELLS 03:59
Throw your eyes around the room Fix them on the wall Stand back from the piece of art Gently let your eyelids fall The past just dries into an idle brush stroke gone And all that’s now remains under a spotlight shone So features glow between the shadow’s teeth. Look at me! Ring rubber bells Look at me! Beat cotton gongs But don’t search below the surface for what lurks And you don’t want to see my greatest works Nah nah nah na nahh… Staring into the fog that falls And seeps right through the cotton I never knew to feel like this Or perhaps I’d just forgotten A life’s a stick of chalk drawn to a dusty cloud While a statue stands forever there casting doubt On those who dare to worship at its feet. Look at me! Beat feather drums Look at me! Fire plastic guns But don’t search below the surface for what lurks And you don’t want to see my greatest works Nah nah nah na nahh… You’re like a brand new can of paint, To brighten up my room With all gloss finish, colour so bold Feel a little high from the fumes Well clay in my hands bleeds until it feels so cold But it sets into the secret of not getting old We’re all born into the land of living dreams. Look at me! Strike silk cymbals Look at me! Blow paper horns But don’t search below the surface for what lurks And you don’t want to see my greatest… Fly tissue flags! Follow me! Ring rubber bells But don’t search below the surface for what lurks And you don’t want to see my greatest works No you don’t want to see my greatest works And I hope you never saw my greatest works.

BAD GRAVITY 03:44
Woah bad gravity’s falling down Yeah bad gravity’s falling down Better keep your feet up off the ground Coz woah bad gravity’s falling down. Ahh that levee’s crying now Yeah that levee’s crying now All that water bearing down Ahh that levee’s crying now. Fools like us won’t stay apart Fools like us won’t stay apart Looks like we’ll make another start Coz fools like us won’t stay apart.

Mainland horizon so calm The newborn took for the shore Never been a child more disturbed The sky fell dark and all the leaves stirred Early warning's more than enough The weather girl, she cuts up rough! CHORUS Turbulence, sweet typhoon Clearer days, be here soon Take what's precious hold on tightly Blow the rest Change don't come lightly. Twist and twirl she dances around But it hurts when we all fall down Shepherds shelter your sheep Hold your hats in the squall down the street Early warning's more than enough The weather girl, she cuts up rough! CHORUS Deadwood, blow it all down But good timber topples as well Oh windows feel the pain rattle She wields lightning, rides the wind into battle! Early warning's more than enough The weather girl, she cuts up rough! CHORUS That change won't come lightly (repeat).

I got something that makes the world seem so clear and bright So I can make a decision and always get it right Yeah no one else has seen them, for they’re not yet for the masses Life is such an easy job wearing my hindsight glasses. Standing at an intersection wondering which way Or rambling out at night –“should I go or should I stay?” I just put them on to see what happened as time passes The outcome’s always good for me wearing my hindsight glasses. You can build your time machines or pray you could go back Just to do things differently, to take a better track But I just hang them on my ears, perch them proudly on my nose And looking through the lens, the perfect situation flows. Maybe I would lend them out if I had a spare Do you think they’d send the kids to war if our leaders wore a pair? Perhaps they’re more useful than a lover’s heart Relationships that ended bad wouldn’t need to start at all. The other day I threw them out – you’d think I must be mad But some mistakes are beautiful and others don’t turn out so bad Just not the same one too many times and you might fall on your feet And I can still see beyond where the waves and the sky meet Yeah I can still see beyond where the dirt and the sky meet I can still see beyond where the mud and the sky meet.

BAD SOUVENIR 03:56
Well it never rains in my homeland It just pours fire and fires down burning tears One last smile for my family I said one day we’ll all be free So I’m setting off with this bad souvenir. We live like rats under the boards of limbo Work nine hours for some rice and a piece of floor And I pray five times a day While twelve years just slips away And we hide away from someone else’s law. Well hope’s a colour all so bright and so nameless It’s singing every note that we could never trust A light swinging in an empty hall With shadows up and down the dirty walls All these years of darkness and my eyes still can’t adjust. Yeah I got a one-way ticket to the land of plenty When we hit those shores the children gonna jump and dance But I just pray this sieve don’t sink And it breaks my heart to think How I’ll tell my family this is love’s last chance.

WEED KILLER 02:28
You’re knocking ‘em dead! They’re coming back up. You’re knocking ‘em dead! Weed Killer.
7.
You might have seen right through me to the back of the hall Where the big noters sing for the fly on the wall My own company ruled, I only speak if you spoke to me First I was immersed a bottle in the smoke Choose my words like a novel from the library shelf But leaves such a gap the books toppled themselves. Give you my full attention, spandex got shorter Round my ankles and look they’re in rising water! Stared at my soggy shoes gazed all over in doubt While the ocean roared in the shell from where I came out Coz I kept eating my crusts while my hair slowly curled Yeh, I’m a quiet kid in a noisy world. CHORUS He’s a quiet kid they always turned him down But in a noisy world you can’t hear a sound! So listen right up sit down on my laptop It’s got a bug and it’s stuck in the apple Buzzing around one flew in my ear Been spinning some wax and sounds so unclear So loud, strewth – my ears fell in rut I held up my camera to the hole in my nut “Hello. What? A few questions to begin?” Well I picked up my ears, but forgot my pin – drop Wasn’t heard a needle lost in the haze With a snowy reception been so cold for days On the couch getting fatter while the TV gets thinner This evolution will be televised while I finish my dinner. CHORUS So do you dig my post? Or like my page? And when the World Wide Web’s all full will it fill you with rage? Click on memories share threads with frayed ends Save every minute, follow article trends But if the virus goes viral or a new crash descends Will you count on one hand or your 400 friends? CHORUS Naked tellies on the nature strip got nothing on But the grass grows around and the signal’s so strong Come down in the last shower? Plumb it into the bowl While the hair fall out gathers around the plughole Like a junky so high, I could see the earth’s curve Well I could find the vein but I soon lost the nerve. CHORUS
8.
THOSE CLOUDS 04:28
A dark cabin packed with postcard tales At 30,000 feet Lift a shutter and light it up Didn’t have a window seat. That view always clears my mind Puts my feet down on the floor Like those LA waves plunging me Into the foreign shore. I wish you could have seen those clouds An endless fine merino fleece With no prickles, stains, blood or skin All held in one wonderful piece. Yes those clouds were like the cotton crops I drove past in Mississippi Glowing with sweet sunrise over the dateline Where we lost a sad day. Saw that Delta harvest in full flight like a good year’s Wimmera wheat in sandy loam Well you can fly around the world for change Yet some things are just like home. And I wish you could have seen those clouds Fluffed up like your Christmas Pavlova I would have told you that and more Right when I came over. Yeah you liked things so pretty and nice Made them with your hands Those dolls immaculate, their hair so true Never a stray strand. “Life’s short, make the most of it” You said I’m good at that, when we spoke our last Well you could make a perfect blue sky From one that’s overcast. And I wish you could have seen those clouds From above and looking down You would have thought them so lovely But I know, but I know, but I know You see them now.

CHORUS I’ve been drunk for days Ain’t no sign of slowing down now Just another drink or two and I’ll be on my way. August comes, so I go down to the levee She says, “they’ve got a bed,” but I really don’t think I’m ready – no I’m not ‘Cause it’s a helluva long way to get there from down here, from down here And I really don’t think I’ll make it but I’ll try, yeah I’ll try. CHORUS Now my mother-in-law she says, “Son I think you need some help,” I said, “Don’t call me son and take a good look at yourself,” but she don’t ‘Cause it’s a helluva long way to get there from down here, from down here And I really don’t think I’ll make it but I’ll try, yeah I’ll try. CHORUS My missus calls she says, “They’re coming ‘round to get you,” So I turn and run. There ain’t anything else to do. Then I stop ‘Cause it’s a helluva long way to get there from down here, from down here This time I think I’ll make it yeah I’ll try, yeah I’ll try. CHORUS

SINNER MAN 03:29
My brother called me Said he’d caused a lot of pain His head was spinning It was driving him insane They call him the sinner man Sinner man. Then when I saw him He couldn’t look me in the eye I knew he’d betrayed me His world was full of lies Sinner man, oooh Sinner man. I said, “Run brother! Pray brother!” But my own mind weighted a tonne I guess there’s a thing or two I also shouldn’t have done Oh sinner man Ah-ooh sinner man! And on the next day well his mama upped and died All of the next week all his daddy did was cry, cry! The last time I spoke to him He was barely even there Maybe I should have reached out But I couldn’t bring myself to care They call him the sinner man Sinner Man! Sinner Man! Sinner Man!
